
Dr. D. E. McCarthy has served as the President of Cooperative Studies, Inc. (CS) since its founding in the early 1990s. CS primarily places North American academicians and professionals in teaching positions at public universities overseas. More than 30 full-time CS professors are currently teaching in thirteen nations.
He has three earned graduate degrees including a doctorate in Leadership and Organizational Management, a Professional Master’s Degree in Non-profit Organizational Leadership and Practice (magna cum laude,); and a Master of Arts in Philosophy, (magna cum laude).
Dr. McCarthy has lectured at universities and academic conferences in many parts of the world, including presenting academic papers at conferences held at Oxford and Cambridge. His extensive international travels have taken him to more than fifty nations, including Afghanistan, Morocco, UAE, Russia, China, Nigeria, Albania, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Egypt, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and throughout Europe.
Since 1974 he has specialized in non-profit organizational and leadership development. He has also taught undergraduate courses in philosophy in addition to working as an organizational consultant.
Dr. McCarthy and his wife, Dr. Teresa McCarthy, live in Lenexa, Kansas. Teresa, who earned her Ph.D. in education (specializing in second language acquisition) at the University of Kansas, also serves as Writer-in-Residence with CS and has lectured at universities in several countries and has traveled to more than 45 nations. She has led two educational teams to Kabul, Afghanistan, including one in 2006 which was sponsored by UNESCO. They have two married children and two grandchildren.
